Dr. Michael Kelly is, without question, the most compassionate, supportive, and exceptional physician I have ever worked with.

I came to Dr. Kelly during one of the most difficult periods of my life. I was suffering from a herniated L5-S1 disc that caused severe pain, muscle weakness, numbness, and tingling. After months of unsuccessful physical therapy, I could barely manage daily activities and was genuinely afraid I might never fully recover.

From my very first appointment, Dr. Kelly stood out. He took the time to truly listen, carefully hearing every concern I had. He explained my condition honestly and thoroughly, discussed the potential risks and outcomes, and offered his professional recommendation without ever making me feel rushed, dismissed, or pressured. When I encountered significant challenges with my insurance company delaying and attempting to deny approval for surgery, Dr. Kelly and his team fought tirelessly on my behalf. Having a surgeon advocate for me with that level of commitment meant more than I can adequately express.

Dr. Kelly ultimately performed a highly minimally invasive endoscopic microdiscectomy, and the procedure went flawlessly. As impressive as the surgery itself was, the level of care I received afterward was equally remarkable. During my recovery, I reached out numerous times with questions and concerns, and he always responded promptly and thoroughly. There were even occasions when he personally called me—without being prompted—simply to check on my progress and see how I was doing. That level of compassion, accessibility, and dedication is extraordinarily rare.

At every follow-up appointment, Dr. Kelly patiently answered all of my questions and ensured I was set up for long-term success. He also provided honest, practical advice about returning to the activities I love. When I asked whether I would ever be able to snowboard again, he didn’t give me a generic or overly cautious response. Instead, he thoughtfully explained the risks, encouraged me to be smart and careful, and told me he wasn’t going to dictate how I should live my life. I greatly appreciated that honesty and respect.

Because of Dr. Kelly, I have my life back. Today, I am in the best shape of my life—hiking, bouldering, biking, going to the gym regularly, and doing things I once feared I might never be able to do again. The quality of life I enjoy today would not have been possible without his expertise, care, and unwavering support.

Dr. Kelly is not only an outstanding surgeon and an exceptional physician, but also an extraordinary human being. I cannot recommend him highly enough, and I will forever be grateful for everything he has done for me.
